Bortgångna rapparen DMX har ett osläppt album

Den 9 april gick den legendariska Ruff Ryder-rapparen DMX bort. Han blev 50-år. Det skedde efter att han drygt en vecka tidigare lades in på sjukhus i livshotande … efter en överdos som triggade en hjärtattack.

“We are deeply saddened to announce today that our loved one, DMX, birth name of Earl Simmons, passed away at 50-years-old at White Plains Hospital with his family by his side after being placed on life support for the past few days.Earl was a warrior who fought till the very end. He loved his family with all of his heart and we cherish the times we spent with him,” the statement continued. “Earl’s music inspired countless fans across the world and his iconic legacy will live on forever. We appreciate all of the love and support during this incredibly difficult time. Please respect our privacy as we grieve the loss of our brother, father, uncle and the man the world knew as DMX. DMX släppte flera ikoniska album under sin livstid. Han blev den första rapparen vars fem första album alla debuterade som #1 på albumlistan Billboard Hot 200. Med en enorm diskografi, har han även lämnat efter sig en stor mäng osläppt musik. Det är nu bekräftat att DMX hann färdigställa ett projekt innan han gick bort. Det finns därför planer på att släppa ett postumalbum. Det har även beskrivits som hans ”bästa album” hittills. Skriva

I en intervju har skivbolaget Ruff Ryder’s grundare Darrin ”Dee” Dean och DMX manager Craig Brodhead uttalat sig kring postumalbumet:

“[…] like you probably never heard no music like you heard on this one that we did right now. This is probably one of his great albums. One of the best. It’s a classic, for sure. [DMX] was excited about it, he couldn’t wait to promote it and get out there with the music.” berättade de.

Det vi sedan tidigare vet om postumalbumet är att det skulle markera hans comeback till bolaget Def Jam där han 2019 signade en ny del för första gången sedan 2003. Det var även där han släppte sin första major-singel ”Get at Me Dog” 1998. Innan sin död lovade han att skivan skulle inkludera fler features än någonsin förut. Bland annat nämnde han Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, Alicia Keys och Usher.
