Travis Scott avslöjar projektet 'Heal'

Inatt gick Travis Scott ut på Instagram med ett meddelande till fansen. Förra året hamnade han i blåsvädret efter att flera personer dog på hans musikfestival Astro World. Sedan dess har rapparen legat relativt lågt både på sociala medier, och när det kommer till musiksläpp. I inlägget som han la upp inatt lyfter han just tragedin på Astro World.

Travis Scott meddelar att han, tillsammans med sitt team, tagit fram projektet HEAL. Syftet med projektet är att ge tillbaka så mycket som möjligt till sin community. Genom initiativet kommer rapparen skänka totalt 5 miljoner USD till olika ändamål.

En del av pengarna, $1 USD, har redan skänkts till HBCU-stipendier – och kommer fördelas till svarta studenter genom fonden Waymon Webster Scholarship Fund. Tanken är att finansiellt stötta 100 studenter.

Han reflekterar som sagt även över hur han jobbat med att bearbeta sorg och trauma sedan tragedin på festivalen. Därför är det inte förvånande att Scott även planerar att skänka pengar till organisationer som ser till att göra konserter säkrare för fans och konsertbesökare. Dessutom skänker de pengar till ett gratis initiativ för att förbättra barn- och ungas psykiska hälsa. Detta projekt leds av Dr. Janice Beal.

Sist ut kommer pengar gå till att expandera Cactus Jack Foundations kreativa designprogram. Design-centrumet är en: “nonprofit maker space for young artists, designers, tech innovators, including free studio space, workspace, tool spaces, job and apprenticeship training, youth education and events.”

”Over the past few months I’ve been taking the time and space to grieve, reflect and do my part to heal my community.  Most importantly, I want to use my resources and platform moving forward towards actionable change.  This will be a lifelong journey for me and my family.

While it’s easy for corporations and institutions to stay in the shadows, I feel as a leader in my community, I need to step up in times of need.   My team and I created Project HEAL to take much needed action towards supporting real solutions that make all events the safest spaces they can possibly be. I will always honor the victims of the Astroworld tragedy who remain in my heart forever.

Giving back and creating opportunities for the youth is something I’ve always done and will continue to do as long as I have the chance.  This program will be a catalyst to real change and I can’t wait to introduce the rest of the technology and ideas we’ve been working on.
