J. Cole överraskar med singeln "Port Antonio" – talar ut om beefen

Sedan han hoppade ur beefen mellan Drake och Kendrick Lamar har J. Cole hållit låg profil, med features som enda utlopp. Nu talar han för första gången ut om beefen i en egen låt, då han överraskningssläpper ”Port Antonio”.

Låten släpptes exklusivt på Instagram & Youtube under natten till torsdagen den 10 oktober svensk tid, den första solo-releasen för Cole sedan mixtapet Might Delete Later i våras. I låten förklarar han sitt beslut att hoppa ur beefen och anklagar alla inblandade för att bråka för ekonomisk vinning.

”I pulled the plug because I seen where that was about to go, they wanted blood, they wanted clicks to make they pockets grow
Wouldn’t have lost the battle, dog, I would’ve lost a bro, I would’ve gained a foe, and all for what?”

Han nämner även Drake vid namn och ger honom en shoutout för allt Drizzy gjort för honom.

”Aye Drake, you’ll always be my n***a, I ain’t ashamed to say you did a lot for me, my n***a
Fuck all the narratives, tapping back into your magic pen is what’s imperative”

Cole delar även diskussioner han hade med en vän om sitt val att falla tillbaka, blickar ut över våldet i rapbranschen och reflekterar över varför beefen uppstod.
